Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, also known by its Japanese title, Dragon Ball Z - Super Saiyajin Da Son Gokū (ドラゴンボールZ 超サイヤ人だ孫悟空 Doragon Bōru Zetto Sūpā Saiyajin da Son Gokū , "Dragon Ball Z: It's Son Goku the Super Saiyan"), or Toei's own English title, Super Saiya, Son Goku, is the fourth Dragon Ball Z feature movie. It was originally released in Japan on March 19, 1991 between episodes 81 and 82 at the Toei Anime Fair as part of a double feature with the first Magical Tarurūto-kun movie. An American English dub was produced by Funimation, a French English dub was produced by AB Groupe, and a Malaysian English dub was produced by an unknown company. All three English dubs were released to Home Video in their respective territories.
It is the first Dragon Ball Z movie to be dubbed with Funimation's English voice cast, and also the first to have songs by bands replace the original Japanese score (although the original Japanese score was restored for later releases). It was later remastered and released in a Double Feature set with Tree of Might on Blu-Ray and DVD on May 27, 2008. The film will be released to DVD again on November 1, 2011 in a remastered box set containing the first five Dragon Ball Z movies.[1]

Piccolo and Gohan arrive and square off against Slug's goon squad, only to be defeated. All hope seems lost, until Goku and Krillin show up, and they easily defeat Slug's men. With all his men defeated, Lord Slug emerges and Krillin challenges him, only to lose in one punch. Goku battles Lord Slug, but quickly loses the advantage, being no match for Slug's power. When Lord Slug finally decides to finish Goku with the final punch, Goku retaliates by catching it and his anger explodes, causing him to turn into a Giji Super Saiyan (which is misinterpreted as an actual Super Saiyan in the movie, causing it get its name Giji Super Saiyan, meaning False Super Saiyan). In a flash of powerful blows, Goku completely crushes Lord Slug's arm and when it seems Goku is about to win, Slug reveals his Namekian heritage, ripping off his broken arm and regenerating a new one. The shock then regresses Goku back to his normal state and before his eyes Lord Slug transforms into a gigantic version of himself. Slug regains the advantage but before he is able to finish Goku off, Piccolo remembers the Namekian weakness: their sensitive hearing (revealed in the beginning of the movie). He then orders Gohan to whistle again and before Gohan can do so, he immediately rips off his own ears to protect himself from the disturbing sounds. Slug is immediately caught off-guard, saving Goku.
Piccolo then gives all his energy to Goku and with his power regained, Goku uses the Kaioken attack to knock down Slug long enough to create a Spirit Bomb. Goku then hurls the powerful energy sphere at the Namekian tyrant, easily destroying him. With the villains defeated, the heroes celebrate over their victory. The movie ends with Master Roshi waking up from his nap, wishing something interesting had happened.
Lord Slug (スラッグ Suraggu ), sometimes known as just "Slug", is a Namekian and the villain of the movie Lord Slug. Slug was born and lived on the original Planet Namek sometime prior to the climate change that wiped out almost all Namekians. Slug, along with other Namekians, discovered the key to unlocking a higher consciousness within. They were known as Super Nameks, but they soon became intoxicated by their new power and began to misuse it, behaving much like the Saiyans. He formed a demon-like army on Namek, and approaches Earth in his eponymous movie. He attacks Goku, but is fooled by the "False Super Saiyan" technique. Lord Slug rips off his broken arm and regenerates, transforming into a Great Namek. Using Kaio-Ken, Lord Slug is seemingly killed by a gaping hole in his chest, but starts to pursue Goku. However, Slug met his demise soon after as Goku kills him with a Spirit Bomb. Lord Slug appeared again in the OVA, Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, as well as in Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans (the remake of Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans featured in Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2), where he was revived as a Ghost Warrior alongside Turles, Frieza, and Cooler. In the original version, Slug could not die unless he was killed the same way he was before, which resulted in Gohan whistling once again, which cripples Slug with pain and Piccolo finishes him off with a large energy blast. In the remake, he couldn't be killed unless the Destron Gas Machine was destroyed.
